Video: Major Mountain Bike Descent In The Alps

I came across this video over at the Adventure Journal earlier today, and thought that it was too good not to share. It follows four riders as they make an epic 10,800 foot (3292 meter) descent in the Alps. They started their ride on the Plaine Morte (Plains of Death) and ended in the Valais Alps near Mount Blanc. Along the way, they found plenty of great single-track and breathtaking views, which you can also enjoy. If this doesn't get you ready to ride this spring, nothing will!

Video: In The Ice Lab With Xavier de Le Rue

I love these snowboarding videos that feature Xavier de Le Rue running what looks to be an impossible line down a mountain. In the one below, which is the second episode of the TimeLine series, he and his crew find a new run in the Alps, near Mt. Blanc. They have work a little to get a chance to ride it, but the results were definitely worth the effort.

Video: Opening A New Route In The Alps

Last fall, mountaineer Herve Barmasse, along with his father Marco, opened a new route along the South-East face of Monte Rosa in Italy. The climb featured just about every kind of challenge you could imagine, mixing rock, ice, and snow in equal measures. The video below gives us a glimpse of that climb and the beautiful mountain itself, and serves as a great reminder of why the Alps are such an amazing place for mountaineers to explore, even in this day and age.
